What's this TV doing in a radio collection? Well if there is one product of
Clive Sinclair's inventiveness that deserves a place in anyone's technology
collection this is it! Sometimes you find items in the most unlikely places and
this is one. At work most people know I collect radios and the subject of Clive
Sinclair came up and eventually the FTV-1 was mentioned. My friend Dave's
parents in the late 70's would go on holiday to Butlins and they needed a small
TV to watch in their chalet in the evenings. The FTV-1 filled the bill so after
seeing a special offer in the Sunday papers one was purchased. That summer when
they arrived at their chalet they found that Butlins had introduced TV's into
all their chalets that year. So the FTV-1 was left packed and put away. Needles
to say I bought it from his parents and found it as shown in the images above.
The only thing missing is the little earphone that went with it and the original
Lithium battery pack.
