A serious bit of kit bought from an advertiser in LOOT. I had seen this advertised under the name DR-49 and it had been in LOOT for several days before I noticed it. Phoned up, it was still available, so went to see it 4 days later and bought it. It had apparently been bought by the seller when new while he worked in the Gulf in the 1970's so he could listen to BBC World Service. When he moved back to the UK he brought it with him and it lay unused for nearly 20 years until I bought it. Why it didn't sell sooner I don't know. Maybe the unfamiliar DR49 model name (which was used outside the USA market) was the cause. Whatever, it's now my main radio and it gets a lot of use.
