A car-boot purchase that I saw quite by chance. Looked grubby but by no means a hopeless case because inside it was nice and clean. When I enquired about the price and the seller quoted £2 my hand thrust the money into his hand faster than lightening. Gave it a quick wipe-over when I got it home and tried a couple of batteries in it. Absolutely dead, not even a switch-on thump, no hiss, must be a dead one I thought. A couple of weeks later I tried again but this time checked for loose wires around the speaker but still nothing. Plugged a set of earphone into its socket and sound, unplug and nothing. Shorted the earphone plug out and it burst into life. Nice radio, very good tone which is just as a Hacker should be.
